hi david,
long-term, yes, we'd love to port to ActionScript 3.0. we'd also like to 
  add new features related to the new binary Socket class. however, no 
major client-side development will happen until i'm finished working on 
my current book (Essential ActionScript 3.0). (no release date yet)

when there's news we'll definitely post here...
