/**
* actionscript "bootcamp" training course
*/
in may, i'm holding my two-day intensive actionscript training course at the
following locations:
toronto, may 2-3
los angeles, may 16-17
day 1: beginner's introduction to actionscript
have you always wanted to learn actionscript, but:
-never got around to it?
-were too intimidated?
-didn't know where to start?
cool. day 1 was designed for you. it covers
all the basics of flash programming.
day 2: introduction to object-oriented programming with actionscript 2.0
do you:
-wonder what an object or a class is?
-use methods and properties without really understanding how they work?
-wish your code was cleaner and more manageable?
-wonder how to structure the code for large applications?
you need some OOP basics, which is what day 2 is all about.
day two is a lot of fun...we build a Tamagotchi virtual pet
entirely with OOP.
for a full description of the actionscript bootcamp visit:

these events are likely to sell out so register early if you can:

hope to see you there!
/**
* speaking at fitc
*/
i'll be speaking at the upcoming fitc conference in toronto on april 9. in
my presentation, i'll be revealing moock.org's new multiuser homepage and
talking about the concepts and code that went into it.
this year's fitc speaker line up is insane. seriously. here are the sessions
i'm definitely not going to miss: yugo nakamura, marcos weskamp (both rare
north american appearances), james patterson, jared tarbell, mike cina, josh
davis, robin debreuil, bradley grosh, branden hall, robert hodgin, robert
penner, grant skinner, michael young, david carson and some tosser named
"hoss".
too bad the wefail crew couldn't make it...they're over at flash forward
instead. :(

/**
* SE|PY, the actionscript editor
*/
lots of people have asked me what editor i use for coding actionscript 2.0.
so here's my official response: i use SE|PY, a great free (open source no
less) editor. it's got lots of great features, is maintained by a single
dedicated person (alessandro crugnola), and has a very active forum where
alessandro himself responds to questions and deals with feature requests and
bug fixes.
get SE|PY here:

if you want to consider a commercial option, take a look at primalscript:
