- hundreds of samples of instruments and vocals in .wav format. updated weekly. also, lots of info on sampling software and industry news.
- star trek sounds
- downloadable sound effects from the various star trek series. things like a transporter starting or something appearing on the viewscreen. also famous clips of the computer's voice.
- wav central
- free wavs in the movie, commercial, and effects categories.
- 4free wav audio directory
- a long list of freeware sound sites, some of which have lots to offer. bit of a hit and miss affair, but if you really want the free stuff, it's worth a try.
- index of /pub/multimedia/sun-sounds
- a vast collection of sound clips from popular and techie culture: tv, movies, computer sounds, sound effects, anime, birds (don't ask me...), etc. all in .au format.

- a well annotated list of sites that offer free sounds.

- flashwavs
- an amateur collection of various sound effects and loops for use with flash.
- soundamerica
- quite a big collection of free sounds in the usual categories (tv, movies, effects, cartoons, etc).
- total recorder
- this ain't the prettiest app, but it's darn useful: record any sounds coming from your pc, kinda like a screen capture utility but for sound. the free trial version captures up to 40 seconds.
- flash music net
- a free music/sounds site offering probably a couple hundred fairly generic electronic (drumnbass/techno) sound loops and some sound effects. part japanese, part english. worth a look if you're on a budget.
