Part Swap to my 1991 BMW 318is (e30)
<< Back to 318is
July 2011 - Sept 2011. Odometer 293198km.
Over the summer of 2011, I removed all salvagable parts from my first e30, and moved a bunch of them to my 318. I bought the 318 with a swapped M50 engine and good exhaust, so it only needed the following parts:
- Front and rear sway bars (Suspension Techniques Sway Bar Kit)
- H&R E30 Race Springs
- Bilstein Sport Shocks
- E36 Z3 (non-M) steering rack
- Shift lever
- Wilwood big brake kit
- Tie rods (the old ones were shot)
The rack was fiddly to get in place, but fortunately didn't need the modify steering link ("knuckle") because the rack had previously been replaced with an e36 rack and e36 link. This project was my first start-to-finish DIY. I learned a ton from a super-nice fellow e30 owner who pulled my old m20 engine for his car.
